We are pausing volunteer opportunities as we take time to reassess our needs.
St Isidore Farm is an environment with structured living that combines solitude with community, farm work with creativity, prayer with study and living the works of mercy. We desire to form a group of volunteer Catholics who study and live the social teachings of the Catholic Church in their daily lives through the guidelines set down by Catholic Worker Movement founders Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin. We welcome practicing catholic volunteers to St Isidore Farm. There are several areas that one may volunteer at St Isidore Farm:
Farm Work. We welcome volunteers interested in Permaculture Study/Practice in our daily farm work. Or not…. We need help with our chickens, goats and a miniature horse. We are looking for a new drought tolerant crop to grow at St Isidore Farm to share with the poor. Right now that crop is alfalfa.
Works of Mercy. St Isidore Farm volunteers perform “the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.” Our current focus is care for our neighbor and our earth. We cannot do one without the other.
Development of Farm Newsletter. St Isidore Farm is developing a newsletter covering farm news and updates. We need catholic journalists with a passion for Laudato Si’ On Caring for Our Common Home.
